Sunny day or cloudy day?:

So I have a bunch of old cameras. None of which holds an amazing story or is much to talk about, except for one thing that has always caught my attention.

A number of the cameras have very few manual settings, and of those, quite a few simply give the operator two options: Sunny Day or Cloudy Day. As these are the only two options that one should be concerning themselves with.

Take this camera:

I’ve had it since I was a kid and always enjoyed the simplicity of it. This one, in particular, doesn’t even ask the words “sunny” or “cloudy”. It simply draws a picture:

I tried to take pictures with it once. I found myself in a constant dilemma as to whether I was currently experiencing a sunny day or a cloudy day. Is a shadow a cloudy day? If the sun is currently shining but there are clouds in the sky, does that qualify as sunny? What if I’m inside?

It turns out it didn’t matter. Only one picture came out at all:

It was a sunny day.
