Photo of Lincoln Heights, taken from Elysian Park on this day in 1928.
Pretty sure this caption is incorrect. That is not Lincoln Heights. That is Cypress Park, with Mt. Washington in the back on the hill, Frogtown, on the left bank of the river, and the overpass is what is currently the Riverside Dr. overpass onto Figueroa.
I love you USC Archives, but I know my Cypress Park.

I smell a genius single-serving blog…
I saw a documentary when I was a kid in which a scientist being interviewed broke this down and it blew my mind. I have been looking for that clip ever since, but this is almost as good. He put the history of the universe in terms of the 7 days of creation. It was just what a 10 year-old, Catholic school kid needed to hear: “1/400th of a second before midnight on the seventh day, Man created God.” Love it.
