Cartoons but with style. Design Style. Take a look at Hellofreaks.

The work this site is advertising is a bit dry, but the site itself is so fucking cool. Have a look here.

More cool shit. Yet again, I get surprised by the “graffiti” inspired art trend. Look at some more of their stuff here.

This is stupid, but it makes me laugh and it’s kind of mesmerizing. Take a look see.
Archive: Objects Around My House. Part 9.
People of Colorado vs. Rutledge: I got a new object in my house today. And there is a bit of a story behind it. Some of you may know about my incarceration over the holidays. If not, here is the brief: I got pulled over going 8 miles over the limit in Burlington, Colorado. Little did I know that my license was suspended. “Suspended for what?”, I ask my self as I am being handcuffed on...

I think I found my pseudo-mentor. This guy’s photos are the perfect example of class. Not overly eccentric, nor overly simple, yet each image I see is an exercise in craftsmanship and vision. Get excited about Nicolas Guerin.

This guy has a pretty nice Flickr set of Russian posters. Lot of cool ones in here.

Old comics taken out of context can be very strange, apparently. A bunch more examples here.

This aesthetic is really after my own heart: This place is awesome. Amazing, even. Yes, that’s right. Collage can be wonderful, and that leaves some hope for me. Please check out Misprinted Type. Click on portfolio for all the goodness.

I’m starting to come around on the whole “graffiti art” movement, but only in certain manifestations. Such as this. Lot of good stuff on this page, and very well designed/executed, if you ask me. Enjoy.

Painting with light… not so new. Doing it extremely well… awesome. Look at some more here.
FYI...
I just received this letter from my father in regards to the Swiss Army knife I wrote about below. This is EXACTLY why I need to get out of this office and start moving: Hey, I enjoyed your reference to the old Swiss Army knife. If you’re ever interested, I’ll tell you some of the other stories about where that knife has been and what it’s been through. You’re right, when I...

In the news...
TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for more than a mile, leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb. The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and...

If you like design, or have any interest in typography, you might enjoy this site. It’s pretty basic, but it covers all the bases. Worth looking into. Do it here.

This makes me laugh like housewives laugh at pictures of kittens: There are a bunch more “animal clones” here.

Leave it to the Swiss: I have this Swiss Army knife that was kind of passed down to me from my father. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever received from him: This knife has been my father’s since before he was my age. He carried it with him at all times. I was about to say that I’m NOT very sentimental about “things”, but who am I kidding, I keep all these...

Saw this today: The alphabet created through photos of buildings and sky. Pretty well done.

Today has been a video watching day. I’ll share some highlights…

This site/blog asks people to mail them postcards, anonymously telling some secret. They range from silly to very sad and disturbing. In fact, some of these “secrets” are so troubled, that the site provides a suicide hotline number. All in all, they’re quite interesting and some are pretty well done. Peruse PostSecret.

I found this world clock today that counts based on world statistics. It’s obviously not a precise representation, but it really puts the statistics in perspective. Check it out here.

I introduce you to Eugene Mirman. He’s a comedian that my friend Cecily made me aware of a while back. I thought of him after I saw him on Flight of the Conchords yesterday. He, among other things, makes these little videos that he puts on his website. Very funny. Go to his website. Or look for him on YouTube.

So Demitri Martin has this website with a series of shows he’s made. They’re pretty good, if you ask me. But even better is the site itself. He’s animated. sitting on a log and rambles for a long time. If you click on “thoughts” there are even more ramblings. I’ve had the page open in the background for some time now and have really been enjoying myself. I...

I put together a logo for Mr. Muto’s new venture. I like it. It’s called Motion Bakery.

Dan Deacon is an “analog” musician, or whatever one wants to call someone who uses simple electronics and circuitry to make sounds and music. I like his stuff a lot. Some may not like it as much, but it sure was enjoyable to see him on the Savannah morning news, playing his music for a bunch of people that had no idea what kind of music he played before inviting him on the show: To...

Again with the comics. I’m sorry, but lately I just keep finding these really witty comics, and I get a huge kick out of them. These are from The Perry Bible Fellowship.
